Cowan's Auctions, a Hindman Company, is pleased to present the September 4-14 American Historical Ephemera, Including Early Photography, Cameras, and Viewing Devices: Timed Online Auction. Comprised of over 250 lots, this auction features an array of American historical artifacts, manuscripts, and artwork, along with a vast assemblage of early photographica, including cased images, paper photography, cameras, viewing devices, photographic publications, and more unique photographic material from prestigious collections around the country. Headlining this auction are the Richard B. Cohen Civil War Collection, the Marvin Lieber Collection of Early Photographica, and Dr. Tom Mullaney, 30 year Historic Photographic Collection, Lexington, Kentucky. Highlights include an Extraordinary French and Indian War Letter, May 16, 1756, Describing Problems in Northern NY, featured as Lot 1; a Lithograph of W.T. Sherman at Savannah by Otto Botticher, Prussian-Born Artist and Union Soldier, featured as Lot 54; a Half Plate Daguerreotype of Composer Stephen Foster's Parents, Eliza & William Barclay Foster, featured as Lot 74; a Homéos Stereoscope by Jules Richard, Paris, ca 1914-20, featured as Lot 148; and a Century Master Studio Camera with Stand, featured as Lot 153.

Timed Auction
Special Collections items are available for absentee bidding only. You can browse the catalog and place bids at any time.

Absentee Bidding
This platform operates using the "proxibid" method - you may place a high bid and the system will bid on your behalf up to that limit.

5-Minute Closing Rule
Starting at 12:00 PM (Noon) on the Final Date, all lots will close starting with lot #1. There will be a 1 minute period between each item until all items close.

Extended Bidding
Any bids placed within 5 minutes of the closing time will extend bidding by another 15 minutes. This rule will apply continuously until no bids are placed within the 5 minute period.

Email Notification
You will receive an email notification:
-each time you place a bid
-when you are outbid on any lot
-at the close of the auction if you are the high bidder

End of the Auction
