Overview

Cowan's American Furniture, Folk and Decorative Arts auction will feature two sessions: the first session on Tuesday, September 22 includes 250 lots of furniture, paintings, folk art, toys, mechanical and still banks, stoneware, trade signs, advertising, and more.

The second session on Wednesday, September 23 will include over 300 lots from many of the same categories as the first day, as well as ironware, boxes, and baskets. 

Both days of the sale will include the option to bid live online, via the phone or absentee. 

Highlights include a Portrait of Kentucky Governor Isaac Shelby by Matthew Harris Jouett (Lot 144), A Rare Carved, Painted and Gilded Pine Classical Female Figure (Lot 37),  A Fine and Rare Virginia or Mid-Atlantic Chippendale Inlaid Walnut Highboy (Lot 53), A Banknote Engraver Scrimshaw Whale's Tooth (Lot 175), A Patriotic None Such Mince Meat Tin Advertising Lantern (Lot 84), and A Rare Anna Pottery Stoneware Sow (Lot 65). Additionally, the sale includes property from the Estate of Jack Batdorff of Traverse City, Michigan and property from the Collection of Judith & Gary Gay of Morrow, Ohio.
