Cowan's June 13-24 American History Timed Online Auction offers a plentitude of historical items including an abundance of early photography, a unique collection of political textiles, important manuscripts, original artwork, and more from major eras in American History spanning from the Revolutionary Period through the 20th Century. Highlights from this auction include a collection of Marquis de Lafayette Engravings, Lithographs, Sheet Music, and Ephemera from European Artists and Publishers, offered as Lot 1, a Beautiful Collection of Hand-Colored Japanese Photographs by F. Beato & Co., offered as Lot 134; a James G. Blaine 1884 Campaign Parade Flag, offered as Lot 176; and a group of W. H. Jackson Albumen Photographs of Identified Cheyenne Chiefs, offered as Lot 275.
Special Collections items are available for absentee bidding only. You can browse the catalog and place bids at any time.
This platform operates using the "proxibid" method - you may place a high bid and the system will bid on your behalf up to that limit.
5-Minute Closing Rule
Starting at 12:00 PM (Noon) on the Final Date, all lots will close starting with lot #1. There will be a 1 minute period between each item until all items close.
Any bids placed within 5 minutes of the closing time will extend bidding by another 15 minutes. This rule will apply continuously until no bids are placed within the 5 minute period.
You will receive an email notification:
-each time you place a bid
-when you are outbid on any lot
-at the close of the auction if you are the high bidder
End of the Auction
