Important Updates to Cowan’s Clients

In accordance with the Stay at Home Order issued by the Governor of Ohio, Cowan’s Cincinnati office is closed through May 1. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no preview available for this auction. The auction will occur as scheduled on April 10, but in observance of CDC guidelines, there will be no in-person bidding permitted for this auction.

About the Auction

Highlights of our Spring auction include items collected by General Herbert Tutherly (1848-1921), which include a Bannock Sinew-Backed Bow with Arrows and a Sioux Quilled Shirt and Leggings.  Also, property from the Stanley Slocum Collection, including a Northern Plains Pipe Tomahawk with buffalo cutout.  Also in the auction is a Tina Charlie (Mono Lake Paiute, 1869-1962) basket; Navajo textiles from Master Weavers Bessie Manygoats and Frances Manuelito; a Second Phase Woman's Blanket, Late Classic Navajo Dress Panels, early Pueblo pottery,  a full size Cheyenne Beaded Cradle, a 19th century Nuu-chah-nulth Carved Mask, and a Chilkat Blanket.
