Cowan’s Auctions, a Hindman Company, is pleased to present the February 26th American Historical Ephemera and Photography, Including African Americana: Online Only Auction, featuring over 180 lots highlighting the written, printed, and visual history of the African American experience. The auction features Property from the Collection of Eric Majette, Jr., material from the Eugene R. Groves Collection of 19th Century Photography, and property from the Marvin Lieber Collection of Early Photographica. Highlighted lots include a group of 3 lobby cards for films by African American author and filmmaker Oscar Micheaux (Lot 151); a Civil War ephemeral archive of John Van Sant Sailer, 183rd and 192nd Pennsylvania Regiments, 6th US Cavalry (Lot 191); a World War II letter & photographic archive of Capt. Charles H. Foertmeyer, M.D., 305th Medical Battalion, 80th Infantry Division (Lot 203); a group of JFK Assassination Teletypes, Nov. 22-25, 1863 (Lot 251); and a group of 3 railroad photographs documenting the Utah & Northern Railroad, one by C.R. Savage (Lot 308).
