616. ART TILE FOUNTAIN ATTRIBUTED TO BATCHELDER,

Southern California, ca 1920-32, probably designed by Ernest O. Batchelder and made during his partnership with Lucien Wilson. Assembled of hand-molded tiles covered with colored slip and having a matte surface. Decorative motifs include peacocks (a Batchelder favorite) and stylized flower pots; 68.5" overall height, back splash 29" wide. Planter reservoir 16.5" deep x about 37.25" wide; inside depth 8.25".
