Finely figured walnut stock with sling swivels.

Made for use by the Cincinnati Turners. The Turners were a unique German-American gymnastic paramilitary society, first established in Cincinnati in 1848. This rifle dates from 1855-1860. The Cincinnati Turners had a sharpshooter unit of about 70 men since 1853. Evidence suggests that many regiments successfully used special sharpshooters to keep opposing cannoneers' heads down. It is likely that the guns were the ones most familiar to an individual. This rifle was used many times in the 1940s to 1960s by its previous owner at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association meets at Friendship, Indiana.

Condition:
Barrel is a dark brown; lock and hammer are mottled grey-to-brown. Stock has some scratches with some nicks and dings. Overall a nice untouched dark brown.
