*German Zimmerstutzen Schuetzen Rifle by Klein
2010, Fall Historic Firearms and Early Militaria, Oct. 28 & 29
4mm cal., 26.5" fluted barrel, no S/N. Engraved Martini-style action with a panel of a German shooter. Double-set triggers with quick release on the lever, original tang rear sight and front sight with ears. Top of barrel engraved and inlaid with silver and silver bands. Very finely carved buttstock with hunter and dog. Checkered wrist, engraved Schuetzen buttplate. Finely checkered and carved forearm with horn tip and fancy silver escutcheons. Wedge holding forearm to barrel.

Condition:  
Frame has a nice untouched patina; barrel retains most of the blue, just thinning and beginning to turn to a plum. Wood is excellent with exquisite carving. An outstanding Schuetzen rifle.
