An outstanding pair of late 18th to early 19th century walking, or "coach" sticks This pair has matching gold filled bulbous knobs with beautiful scrollwork floral repousse work with stippled ground, each marked "Swaine & Adeney London". Each has matching large oval brass eyelets 3" below knob. Mounted on exceptionally long malacca shafts with long (7.5") tapered brass ferrules. Total length 47.5". It is unclear whether these sticks were made for a very tall gentleman, or whether they were meant to be used for riders in a coach to assist them when they stepped out. Whatever the case, what a pair!
Condition: Light wear & slight stains to shaft, original finish.
