Confederate envelope addressed in ink to Major Gen. M. Lovell / Care of General Joseph E. Johnston / near Dallas, Ga., with blue ink postal stamps reading PAID and COLUMBIA S.C. JUN 4 and pencil inscribed E.M. Lovell / June 3, 1864 / Rec'd June 8th on back of envelope. General Mansfield Lovell (1822-1884) had been relieved of command by this point in the war for allowing the Capture of New Orleans.

Condition: Opened with instrument at top, expected edge wear, even toning, else very good.
