A bulbous form coin silver presentation pitcher with repoussé and chased leaves and flowers, a center reserve with the engraving, To Hon Arthur MacArthur, Vice Chancellor of The National University From The Law Facility, 1887; marked Coin Silver, maker's mark illegible. Total silver weight 31.89 ozt., (990g).

Arthur MacArthur, Sr. (1815-1896) was an American lawyer, judge and politician who acted briefly as Governor of Wisconsin and later was appointed associate justice on the Supreme Court. He was the father of famed General Arthur MacArthur, Jr. and grandfather of World War II commander, Douglas MacArthur.
