Carl Nyquist (American, 1888-1959), signed l.r.; 21.5 x 29.5 in.
Little is known of Carl Nyquist, other than his residence in Washington D.C. for a spell and his brief participation in the PWAP (Public Works Art Project)- an extension of the WPA intended to decorate public buildings- culminating in a mural executed in the post office in Bolivar, located in Hardeman County, Tennessee. The mural is large, depicting Tennessee cotton pickers. Both paintings offered here are emblematic of this style.
