An 8" x 11" albumen photograph on a 10.75" x 13.75" mount pencil inscribed Sweeny-Photo-Clev. at l.r. of recto, with cancelled five-cent revenue stamp, Painesville Telegraph rubber-stamp, and inscribed ink and pencil description on verso reading 1st Bridge of Cleve-Painesville-Ashtabula R. Road in 1850's over Grand River - Later the Lake Shore Covered Bridge (U.S. Route 20) and Tunnel. East of Painesville-present site of Calamity Curve; housed in 13.5" x 16.5" wood frame.

Thomas T. Sweeny was a prolific photographer of the Cleveland area active from the late 1850's until around 1900.
