Lot 646

*Japanese Type 4 Rifle
2010, Historic Firearms and Early Militaria, April 28 & 29
7.7mm Japanese caliber, 23" barrel, S/N 28 on the opp rod, and 28 on the bolt, 28 on barrel, 28 on the bullet guide. No markings on the top of receiver. Striper clip fed 10-round capacity. Rear sight leaf graduated to 12 stands for 1,200 meters, with the smallest peep hole, front sight blade between posts. Blackened finish. Two-piece buttstock with full-length handguard. This is either type 4 or 5 rifle. Experts have debated this question. The photograph should assist the purchaser in his personal decision.

Retaining most of the original black finish with a area on the left side of receiver showing bright metal. Stock with some nicks and dings, but still retaining open grained look. This a extremely rare rifle. Japanese military rifles seldom come up for sale today.
