.30-06 caliber, 30" heavy round barrel, S/N 1341961. This is one of eleven with Springfield manufactured single-shot receiver. 1922-style stock with the magazine well-wood not cut out, and gun has a special trigger guard floor plate. These receivers were made specifically for the Marine Corps which assembled the complete rifles. The rifle retains its third-type cork ball palm rest. The aluminum hook buttplate is missing. A heavy milled 1922 buttplate is in place. Lyman 48 rear sight and front sight. Receiver ring and barrel have been drilled on a 7.125" radius for scope blocks which are missing and the holes are unfilled. The bolt has had the handle re-shaped and lowered necessitating notching the edge of the receiver and the stock to the rear of the rear sight. Further gentle stock modification has been made to the rear of the pistol grip and by adding an extension piece to the bottom of the grip. A Woody set trigger is in place. The safety has also been modified on one side. This gun is accompanied by a Springfield Research Service letter.
Condition: This is a 90% rifle. This is an extremely rare piece and in fine collector condition. Bore is excellent.
