Hartschiere Miniature Helmet,

Price Realized: $360.00

a miniature scale helmet of the personal guard of the King of Bavaria, Ludwig II (1845-1889), in the pattern of 1852, made of nickeled tin and gilded cast brass. Reportedly a jeweler's sample to demonstrate the design to a perspective buyer, but more likely the handiwork of a talented miniaturist. Movable chinscales, bolted to the helmet body.

The Hartschieres, formed from older units in 1669, was one of the oldest guard units in Europe when they disappeared with the fall if the Wittelbasch monarchy in 1918.

Condition: True to scale model 1852 helmet pattern with not often seen original chinstrap. Good condition.
