New England Percussion Militia Rifle,
2008, Fall Firearms Sale, Oct 28 & 29
.54 caliber, 36" barrel. Marked JW on left side of the breach end of the barrel. The tang is dated 1836. Walnut stock, brass furniture and patchbox.

Condition:  
Barrel is brown with lots of pitting, especially around percussion drum. Lockplate is a deep dark brown with lots of pitting. Walnut stock with lots of nicks, dings and scratches. A small chip of wood out of bottom rear lockplate. There is a crack in the right side of the stock from lock protruding 5".
