Model 1849 Ames Rifleman's Knife,
2007, Historic Firearms and Early Militaria, May 2
with 12" blade, 1.6" wide, 0.25" thick and stamped on the obverse ricasso Ames Mfg. Co./ Cabotville/1849/ on verso U.S./WD. as well as the initials W.D. and J.W.R. Handles are walnut held with three steel rivets on each side.

Condition:  
The handle and brass have nice dark aged look with the brass having a nice mustard look. Aged haloes around each steel rivet. The blade markings and inspector's initials are very sharp and clear. The blade has not been cleaned. Blade with several small areas of fine light salt-and-pepper pitting. Very tiny small chip at the tip of blade.
