WHALE BONE MASONIC CANE
2002 A Cornucopia of Canes III. February 1.
The turned walrus ivory handle on this cane is 1.75" high and 1" in diameter. There are 3 inset silver wire bands, 2 at the top and 1 near the collar, and a silver disk on the top which is engraved "John Clapp / 1866" and has the Masonic compass in the center. There is a small, 1/4", silver collar engraved "Warwick, R.I." The single-piece round whale bone shaft has small brass eyelets about 3.75" below the collar. The ferrule is missing. One very small drying crack on top of the handle between the disk and the 1st silver band; old split where ferrule would have been. Overall length, 34.25".
