Wes Cowan Cowan's Auctions, Inc. founder, president, television personality, newspaper columnist and fearless leader, Wes is a virtual encyclopedia of American history and antiques. He holds BA and MA degrees in anthropology from the University of Kentucky and a PhD in anthropology from the University of Michigan.

Specialists

Paintings, Furniture and Decorative Arts Diane Wachs Diane supervises the Furniture, Paintings, and Decorative Arts Department at Cowan's, overseeing six auctions a year. A Kentucky native, Diane served there as a museum director and on boards and panels to further the state's fine and decorative arts. She holds a B.A. from Trinity College in Washington, DC, and a Masters in the History of Decorative Art from the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Program in New York, N.Y. Phone Extension #23 Mimi Morgan A native of Philadelphia and former marketing administrator with 30 years experience in the antiques trade, Mimi regularly exhibits at shows throughout the Midwest, specializing in early ceramics, glassware and fine art. She commands an encyclopedic knowledge of ceramics and glass and loves the research component of her job. If she doesn't know what it is, she won't give up until she finds out. Phone Extension #21 Roxanne Argenbright The daughter of an antiques dealer, Roxanne brings to Cowan's more than 25 years of experience in the antiques trade. Her passion for design and the decorative arts, held from her earliest memory, is evident in the time spent studying and researching a single textile or piece of pewter. She studied in the Interior Design Program at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, and is a member of the Pewter Collectors Club of America and the Ohio Folk Art Association. Roxanne's pleasant attitude and depth of knowledge make her indispensable to the Cowan's team. Phone Extension #22 Emily Everhart Emily developed an interest in the decorative arts early on--when she broke her mother's Wedgwood teapot as a child. After a later move to Cincinnati, she acquired a passion for local objects, specifically art pottery and art-carved furniture. She presented a paper on a Mitchell and Rammelsberg bedroom suite as part of an exhibition at the Cincinnati Art Museum, and completed an internship in the Decorative Art Department there. She holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Cincinnati. Phone Extension #23 Graydon Sikes Graydon Sikes works with our paintings and prints here at Cowan's. His other cataloguing interests include sculpture, early photography and miscellaneous items in the decorative arts. He is currently completing his MA in Art History at the University of Cincinnati, with a specific focus on Henry Farny and 19th century artists of the American West. Phone Extension #25

Firearms and Militaria

Jack Lewis Jack Lewis has 36 years experience in the firearms industry. Jack is nationally known for his expertise in the Springfield Arsenal and the Frankford Arsenal. Jack is a Life member of both the National Rifle Association and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Arms Collectors. Phone Extension #27

Joe Moran Joe Moran works in the firearms department at Cowan's Auctions. Joe is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and has a BA and BS degree in History and Accounting. He is also experienced in Sporting Art and has been published in The Virginia Sportsman, Classic Arms & Militaria, the Carriage Journal, The Magazine Antiques, Man At Arms, and numerous equestrian publications. American Indian Arts

Danica M. Farnand Danica graduated from John Carroll University and holds an MA in anthropology from the University of Cincinnati. She oversees Cowan's American Indian division, highlighted by two auctions each year. Phone Extension #15

Susan Labry Meyn Susan is Cowan's Consulting Ethnologist. A writer and teacher with a PhD in American Indian history and anthropology, she spends time each summer with the Oglala on Pine Ridge Indian reservation in South Dakota. Phone Extension #15

Our hard working photography and design team is lead by Linda. They are responsible for photographing each and every item that Cowan's consigns as well as managing our behemoth image library, and the catalog production.
Creative Director - Linda Gillings As Creative Director Linda oversees and coordinates all aspects of photography and design for Cowan's. Warehouse
Warehouse Manager - Jack Erp Jack controls the comings and goings of all Cowan's merchandise. He has been in the auction business for 15 years, and is a licensed auctioneer. You can be assured that great care is taken in the handling all of our consignors' property. Phone Extension #26

Vicki Erp Vicki will take care of all your shipping related questions and needs. Auction set up and supervision is also under her responsibility. She is very knowledgeable in the antiques business with 15 years in the business. Phone Extension #19

Josh Erp Josh has been working in the auction business since he was 14 years old. He works with the set-up and breakdown of auctions, and deals with the loading and unloading of furniture and other auction goods. Josh also helps with shipping and receiving of lots.
